When the PEC Foundation was formed in 1996, it was with the idea that the organization would go beyond simply operating Grandview. From the start, it has been the intention of the PEC Foundation to conduct workshops in the fine arts with an emphasis on developing an appreciation for the arts and celebrating local talent. In 1999, the first Grandview Summer Academy was held. The Academy included a variety of participating artists and workshops for young and old alike. In 2002, for the first time, workshops were available for credit through the UW -Platteville. Teachers and students were given hands-on experience integrating folk arts into the K-12 curriculum.

The Summer Academy is coordinated by Marilyn Rolfsmeyer, a Hollandale resident and K-12 art teacher in the Argyle School District.

The 2008 Grandview Academy is supported through the generosity of the Wisconsin Arts Board, the Kohler Foundation, the Alliant Energy Foundation and Wal-Mart.
